The Burden of the Black Martyr represents the burden society has placed on Black people to save us all. Intersectionality, Black fem’s, and womxn have continued to hold the country up with our advocacy, organizing, and self-sacrifice. To me, this image is similar to the Greek story of Prometheus, the demi-god that essentially sacrificed himself by giving human beings fire in order to survive.
